How To Enable Java in IE, Firefox, and Google Chrome Browser

In this article we will discuss about, “How To Enable Java” in web browsers.

Java Run time Environment is required for some applications, in order to run those applications in our computers.

In some cases, you don’t even required the Java installed in your computer. 

So let’s assume that you have already installed Java on your computer and your web browser still complains about Java, then follow below steps.

When the ‘Java plug-in‘ is disabled in your web browser, you would see an issue with ‘Applet‘ not getting loaded as desired; follow below steps to fix this problem as well. 

Note:

Clean your browser cache and temporary internet files. 

Close your web browser: IE, Firefox, and Chrome

If you are not installed Java yet, go ahead and ‘Install Java‘.

How To Enable Java in IE

To enable the Java plug-in in IE 9 and IE 10, click settings icon (gear icon) in the top-right corner of the browser.

Choose Manage Add-ons option from the menu to open the Manage Add-ons window.

Select ‘Toolbars and Extensions‘ in the left panel under ‘Add-on Types’ and scroll to the entry for the Java plugin under ‘Oracle America, Inc‘ in the right panel.

Select the Java entry and click on Enable button in the bottom right corner.

Now, you would get a pop-up window asking for, ‘Do you want to enable this add-on?’

Yes, click on ‘Enable‘ and close the dialog.

How To Enable Java in Firefox

To enable the Java plug-in in Firefox, click Tools -> Add-ons to open the Firefox Add-ons Manager.

You can also use the shortcut ‘CTRL+SHIFT+A‘ on your key board, to open the browser’s Add-ons Manager.

Choose ‘Plugins’ in the left panel, and scroll to the entry for the Java plugin, and click on the ‘Enable‘ button on the plugin.

Note: I used to see the ‘Java Plug-in’ in firefox browser ‘Add-on Manager. Now, I did not see the ‘Java Plug-in’.

Message from Firefox Plug-in Site: For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java.

I updated to latest version of Java to appear the ‘Java Plug-in‘ in the Add-ons Manager.

How To Enable Java in Chrome

To enable Java plug-in in Chrome enter “chrome://plugins” in the address bar and pressing Enter to display a list of the browser’s plug-ins.

Scroll to the entry for Java and click ‘Enable‘ button.

In case, if you see ‘Disable’ button is displayed in place of ‘Enable’, then you don’t have to do any thing.
